Ann Caluwaerts succeeds Françoise Chombar as chair of the STEM Platform, which aims to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics in education and careers.
Ann Caluwaerts is an engineer who began her career at Lernout & Hauspie, then moved to the British operator BT, before joining Telenet 17 years later. There, she rose to the position of chief corporate development. She left the Mechelen-based company at the beginning of this year. She is a board member at Imec, Bpost and Cofinimmo.
Françoise Chombar, former CEO of Melexis, has led the STEM platform for ten years. Professor Lieven Janssens of the University of Antwerp will be the new vice-chair.
