The federal government is not doing enough to switch to a new electronic voting system. That is according to the VVSG, the Flemish Association for Cities and Municipalities (VVSG). Around 130 municipalities still voted with pencil and paper last year. The government does not appear to have any plans to roll out new voting computers any time soon. Minister Quintin of the Interior says that investigations are underway to determine whether the necessary funds can be made available and whether a company is willing to supply a modern system that meets all the necessary guarantees.
