“For the first time in my career (and that’s been a while), we are now seeing master’s and bachelor’s graduates who cannot find a job. The reasons given include ‘they have no work experience’,” says Saskia Van Uffelen, Future Workforce Manager at the sector organisation Agoria.
The Master’s in Computer Science at KU Leuven is calling on companies to open up internship places this summer for around 40 Master’s students. These are highly educated junior candidates who, as part of their studies, are keen to gain practical experience in a rapidly evolving IT and AI environment.
‘It is true that they have no work experience, but they possess many other (digital) skills that are essential for the labour market of the future,’ writes Saskia Van Uffelen on LinkedIn.
Agoria is therefore lending its support to the call from KU Leuven’s Master’s in Computer Science programme to companies to open up internship places this summer for around 40 IT Master’s students.
The Agoria #Edutracker platform helps Agoria members highlight collaboration opportunities arising from IT and technology degree programmes and makes it easy for companies to make proposals — ranging from internships to guest lectures, company visits or participation in curriculum advisory panels.
