Cécile Coune succeeds Stefaan De Clerck as Chair of the Proximus Board of Directors. She has already served as an independent director for three years.
It was already known that the Chair of Proximus would be chosen by coalition partner Les Engagés. It was simply a matter of waiting for the name the party would put forward as a candidate for chair. It is now clear that it will be Cécile Coune (63). She is the first female chair at Proximus.
Coune studied law at the French-speaking university UCL. She has had a distinguished career. She worked as a lawyer – and was a partner at the well-known law firm Liedekerke – and held various CEO positions in the insurance and reinsurance sector. She also sits on the boards of other organisations such as the insurer QBE Europe, the HR service provider Securex and a division of the credit insurer Credendo, and was, among other things, a director at Belfius Insurance.
