The federal, Flemish and French-speaking governments want to and, above all, need to collaborate more. “Connecting the dots” was the theme of the annual meeting of BOSA and Agoria, which was attended by over 200 guests.
It was Liliane Verreyen, acting director of Simplification and Digitalisation at the FPS BOSA, who took the initiative to involve the regions as well. After all, citizens are not interested in the multitude of digital doors. Jan Smedts, head of Digitaal Vlaanderen, agreed that “Citizens do not want a tour of our institutional architecture. We must not export the complexity of government to our citizens and businesses. They want a single, clear experience. A single point of contact.” For information: the government has more than 1,200 websites.
Isabelle Roucou, Director General of SPW Digital, also emphasised that cooperation is essential in the digital transformation. And Bart Steukers, CEO of Agoria, said that the private sector is certainly willing to cooperate.
Critical voices noted that there has been talk of greater cooperation between the various authorities for 15 years. “This time, we need to plan less and do more,” insisted Jan Smedts.
